Eric decided to become a personal trainer to use his knowledge of weight lifting and the human body to make a long-term impact by promoting a healthy lifestyle.
You’d never know it looking at him today, but Eric says he grew up as “the tall, scrawny kid with no muscles.” That prompted him to start lifting weights as a teenager – and he was instantly hooked!
“I had no mentors, no gym buddies or gym rats to show me the rights and the wrongs,” he says. “I learned from trial and error and reading bodybuilding publications. I looked at those guys in shock and awe with high hopes I could be like them someday.”
While his addiction to fitness grew, Eric’s career path as a personal trainer took a bit longer to unfold. After high school, he started working as a firefighter at an oil refinery as he attended Macomb Community College to become a paramedic/EMT. Eric enjoys that lifesaving work and having the ability to help people in need or distress. But, ultimately his passion for helping others led him right back to the gym. Eric decided to become a personal trainer to use his knowledge of weight lifting and the human body to make a long-term impact by promoting a healthy lifestyle. Along the way, the “tall, scrawny kid with no muscles” continues to compete in NPC (National Physique Competitions) shows as a Bodybuilder and Classic Physique competitor with the goal of winning a pro show.
